Elizabeth Birchmore Riss MA, LCPC

Elizabeth Birchmore Riss MA, LCPCI believe people can find the positive changes they are looking for by sharing the expertise they have about their lives and who they are with a caring, competent and effective therapist. I would like to work with you to improve negative thoughts, overwhelming feelings, and unhelpful patterns of behavior. The warm, genuinely caring, and nonjudgmental environment I provide will facilitate your gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and the life you want to be living. Therapy can help to give you tools, within yourself and out in the world, to engage in life and relationships with ease and vitality.
I help people develop new skills to approach thoughts & behaviors (CBT) along side developing insight & self awareness (psychodynamic).

My approach is direct, supportive and caring. I believe that effective psychotherapy is based upon mutual curiosity and genuineness in discovering how to meet life’s challenges – including family issues, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. The path through these difficulties includes facing them with humor, gentleness and bravery. The fruition of this exploration is a greater awareness of self and an appreciation of others.
